More Open Source Characters?

I love the idea of public domain comic characters.  Through researching the classic characters like Black Terror, Daredevil, Fighting Yank, Hydroman, and so on, I recently discovered Jenny Everywhere.  I love the concept of a character specifically created for this purpose.

I have a few characters I created that have been collecting dust for a long time.  They're more the spandex & cape type super hero characters and heavily influenced by the early '90s comics I was into at the time.  I'm thinking of releasing them to public domain/open source.  I'd rather see them doing something than sitting on my shelf.  Do you think there's any interest in additional open source super heroes?

Re: More Open Source Characters?

If anyone is interested, I've posted the first of the characters - The Outworlder - on the Public Domain Super Heroes website here:

http://www.freewebs.com/publicdomainheroes/o.htm

http://www.freewebs.com/publicdomainheroes/outworlder1.jpg

Bio: Michael Degner is a high school student from Des Moines, Iowa.  One night he is visited by the spirit of an ancient alien warrior.  The alien joins with Degner and this gives him super powers so that he can help defend against an alien invasion.

I'm also serializing the origin story I did for him here (pg. 1 up today):

The character of The Outworlder is available for use by anyone, with only one condition. This paragraph must be included in any publication involving The Outworlder, in order that others may use this property as they wish. All rights reversed.

Bio: A former FBI agent, and former partner of Rod Stiner (aka Jackpott).  Mario Sanchez was with Stiner in the botched mob bust, and ended up severely damaging both his arms and his legs.  After having his limbs replaced with cybernetic ones, he opted to employ his new appendages - and his martial arts expertise - in the services of the highest bidder.

The character of Cyber-Knight is available for use by anyone, with only one condition. This paragraph must be included in any publication involving Cyber-Knight, in order that others may use this property as they wish. All rights reversed.

Re: More Open Source Characters?

Ironically, discovering Jenny and releasing these guys to everyone gave me a new story idea after 10 years.  I pencilled this splash page for the meeting between the Outworlder and the Shifter:

Re: More Open Source Characters?

Just FYI for anyone interested:

The Public Domain Super Heroes site has moved to

http://pdsh.wikia.com

Currently, we have just over 60 character profiles, including the characters above, Jenny Everywhere (of course), Octobriana, and a slew of Golden Age Greats.  The complete list of profiles to date can be seen here:

http://pdsh.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters
